The Thompson Library is trying out a bot to answer basic questions when no librarian or staff member is available. You'll see it on the chat widgets on many of our online guides when nobody is staffing the chat feature. It works best with simple questions. For more complicated questions, or if you just want to hear from a real, live person, please use our Ask a Librarian page to send a message, and we'll get back with you as soon as possible.
The library chatbot is a rules-based app, and not artificial intelligence (AI). It looks for keywords and tries to match your question to the right FAQ.
